Trichur Girl Burnt Alive - Another Heinous Crime

Another instance, this time in Thrissur. Last time it was elsewhere in Kerala. Another girl is burnt alive. This is a message for the Society in general and for Parents in specific.

No not the parents of the girls, the Parents of boys. It is time for them to teach their boys to listen and respect a NO.

A NO is a NO! it has to be accepted and respected.

What starts as a show-off of love and affection in childhood matures as the children grow. They get what ever they like, they get what ever they ask. Slowly they develop an attitude which makes them believe that if they like, it is theirs.

But a girl is another life, she is not a toy or a merchandise, that he can buy. Our boys don't realise this.

It is sad that incidents like this, happen in Kerala, a State with high literacy, but literacy does not ensure sense.

We need to change, we need to become aware of how to handle differences, how to face rejection, how to face failures.

Our education system needs to change. We need to focus more on the emotional quotient. Flushing out thousands of bookworms every year is not what we need. We need young minds that think creatively, minds that are optimistic and minds that are emotionally balanced.

We do not need a bunch of intelligent souls, who kill at will and laugh out loud when someone mocks dyslexic children.

It is time we become aware and it is time we make a change, yes.. in the upbringing of our children.
